ethandesu: The Alden Chukka - It’s a chicken and egg situation with the 4060H chukka from Alden - Did the Italians copy the Japanese, the Japanese copy the Italians, or were they both taking cues from classic Ivy style at the same time? The first time I visited Pitti, there were lots of short twill trousers with chunky barrie last Aldens, and after working in Japan I wondered who jumped this train first. Regardless, seeing greats like Antonio Liverano make them their own, my first pair of colour 8’s had to be the two eyelet chukka. 4 odd years later, I still have them. An amazing shoe, waxy as hell and gleaming like oil. A word to the wise though - if you tend towards big footed (I’m a 10.5) they wont look like the guys you see working the floor at Tomorrowland. desu
